Tuesday morning, 10am and my day has started in a really sweet way!
First Stop_SELFRIDGES and what a WOW place, specially now, it’s all Halloween and Christmassy decorated and I loved it!
Make-up counters, food hall or cafes, fashion and gifts; You can clearly find anything in this place.
The aim was to look for interesting branding and design relating to our product category. To me, Bakery would be the perfect place to go.
If I thought the make-up counter was amazing, when I got to the bakery section, I was quite in shock and felt I should buy and try every single different product.
My first approach was to small type of packagings that are located in the middle of the hall way. I believe these packagings call more attention as they end up being on your way and you literally have to look at it. There are labels and decorations announcing the Christmas Pudding, an english tradition dessert I would say.
The way the packagings are placed next to each other have a concept behind it. I noticed that products with patterns are placed next to more simple packagings and colourful products are placed next to neutral colours, so then each product stands out on its way.
I like the way colours define flavours and the packaging look a lot like gifts. See through boxes are really nice as the products are much more noticeable than others.
Christmas and Halloween are the KEY decoration at this moment and it looks lovely. I have noticed two mini counters surrounded by this pastel pink light, which called my attention and I really liked the pastel decoration.
I can’t finish this blog unless I mention my week spot;
This counter called ‘ Artisian du Chocolat’ had the most amazing show windows with it and even a ‘Marry Me’ Truffle Chocolate box and this reminds me of how a brand have to care about the customer.
I have noticed as well, that at the entrance of this counter, as I go up the two or three steps, the colourful products call more attention, not only because of the colour itself but because they are placed first and comparing prices, are cheaper than the discreet and elegant neutral packagings.
To finalise, here are some really nice counters, patterns and packagings that I really liked:
A sweet and well spent morning which opened my appetite to the ‘On Your Marks’ brief !
