Typography with Kim – a really nice workshop, with a really nice person teaching us.
I guess everyone felt really good while working in a good atmosphere!
We got to do letter press and that was a really nice experience, however it made me remember the Printmaking workshop. It takes so long to get everything ready and its so fast when printing it and getting your work ready to see!
Basically we have tried a different way of printing, ‘printing from a hart raised image under pressure, using ink.’ And it is so interesting to see that from an error you create the best piece of work.
On Monday was more like a learning class and we only had black ink so we had to be creative and I got to play with the contrast using a lot or less ink.
Firstly by constructing a phrase that was given to us:
Then, by constructing a word chosen by us:
On Thursday we had the opportunity to ‘play’ with, at least, 4 different colours. It was fun and to be honest, the results are unexpected.
Because we were a lot in a tiny room, we were divided into 2 groups and the one not working in the room, had the task search for exemples of typography and draw them. I really enjoyed doing the massive letters.
